Marion Knott Studios, completed in 2006, is a 76,000-square-foot facility at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Orange, California. Designed to replicate a professional film and media production studio, it features two sound stages (2,500 and 5,000 square feet), a Foley stage, a television and broadcast journalism stage with an integrated control room, 36 individual editing suites, and a set design shop. Additionally, the studio includes the 500-seat Folino Theater, equipped with advanced film and digital projection systems, as well as Dolby Digital surround sound for high-quality cinematic experiences.
Funded by a generous $5 million donation from Marion Knott in 2004, the $31 million project was managed by Bastien and Associates, who ensured the facility met the high standards required for hands-on learning in the film industry. This state-of-the-art project highlights the value of expert construction management in creating specialized spaces, offering students access to an environment that mirrors real-world production conditions. Marion Knott Studios stands as a prime example of successful construction management in the development of cutting-edge educational facilities for the entertainment sector.
